Programme Notes – After the Darkness

This five-minute piece was written during the first lockdown in March/April 2020 for the pianist Duncan Honeybourne, who premiered it in Weymouth, Dorset in October 2020. It was also put on a CD ‘Contemporary Soundbites’ which was released in that year.

The work contrasts the crystalline, bell like higher texture of the piano with deeper, warmer and more humane colours. It speaks of a near future of freedom and sanity.
